08:10 pm - How does this make you feel?
Taken from someone else on LJ.

Here is my 5 point plan for dealing with children. Children are defined as anyone below the age of 12. Exceptions are made for girls 10 and above who bloomed early.

1. There should be a mandatory curfew for children. They should only be allowed in public from 3-5pm Monday-Friday; and 11am -6pm on the weekend.
While they are in public, the parents are responsible for having some way to entertain them. A portable DVD player with earphones is great. Any clear plastic bag is an economical alternative. Don't give your child a noisy handheld video game: it's like handing the child a drum or a fistful of fireworks. While, I have no problem with you giving your child a fistful of fireworks, I just ask that you do it at home.

2. One child is allowed in public per adult supervisor. No more field trips, no more haggard women towing 5 screaming kids through the mall. If you're pregnant that counts as your 1 kid.

3. Children are not allowed in movie theatres, or restaurants. The only exceptions being themed restaurants, fast food joints, G-rated movies, or anything with Sandra Bullock.

4. Children in public need to be drugged to make them quiet and compliant.
Parents who do not want to drug their children must physically restrain them. They need to be muzzled, and strapped down to handcarts; sort of like how they used to wheel Hannibal Lecter around in, "Silence of the Lambs".

5. Children not restrained (see above) will be equipped with leashes and shock collars. The controls for the shock collars will be publicly available. Anyone seeing a misbehaving child will have the ability to activate the shock collars.

Parents and children unwilling to follow these rules will be sent to labor camps where they will sew t-shirts, or build shock collars and handcarts.
The other option for parents who don't want to follow these rules is to leave their children at home when they go out. That's why God made TV, and books of matches.

So in closing, please write to your congressman, representative, or local warlord, and tell them you want them to endorse the T-Shirt Hell Childcare Act of 2005. If they refuse, tell them you know all about the videotape.
You don't need to be specific; they'll know what you're talking about.

Children these days are sorely lacking two very important things: respect and discipline. Either teach it to them, or beat it in them. This world would be so much better off of all parents were military drill sergeants.

Are you serious? If you are, may you never have children.

If one is man enough to put their dick into a chick, or woman enough to let him do it, the sure has hell better be man/woman enough to take care of what comes out. They are the ones to do it, not the government, nor the schools, or the 15 year-old gal down the street who knows no more about raising children than she does driving.

That doesn't mean that they should raise their kids like that.

Read Dobson.
While I did exaggerate a bit, "or beat it in them," I more or less still hold true to that point of view. I used the word beat more of a metaphor.
Life is hard, and the world is tough, and we do children no favors by coddling them.

If you're referring to Focus On The Family's Dr. James Dobson, I definitely don't think so.

Be that as it may, there is no doubt that much of what the man says makes perfect sense.

Looking at it from your perspective, I'm sure it does.

From mine, it doesn't.

Ah, but when all is said and done, what is the truth of the matter?

To treat a child as you would anyone else.

Smooth move on deleting that one post, "Sure. If you're a Conservative Christian fanatic." It goes a very long way toward proving that you are truly enlightened and not the fanatical bigot that I am.
I never once insulted you, or your beliefs in a direct manner. Fine way to maintain your credibility.

I have no intention of "getting you," per se, simply to explore the topic at hand. It could be that I am completely wrong about the subject, it could not.
So far, all the evidence I have seen leads me to believe that I am in the right, however I am perfectly willing to accept the fact I could be wrong, and am open to the possibility that I am. If it proven so to me, then so so be it. The evidence presented must be damn good, though.

I'm not here to prove anyone wrong. I couldn't care less about what you think. It is, after all, merely an opinion and it's hard to change the opinion of another. Same goes for me.

Also, I don't think that teaching a child to fear or respect your supposed "authority" is the greatest way to raise a child. Especially by spanking or beating them with a switch or paddle. I really don't see how that's supposed to help them eventually become responsible adults.

Consequences for wrongdoing is a start. More often than not, unruly children have no concept of right and wrong, hence the improper behavior. Pain/discomfort is undeniably the most effective teacher known to man.

Coming from a person who was beaten daily with a belt, it doesn't teach you anything but fear.

Careful that you do not confuse abuse with discipline. What happened to you may have been abuse, it may not. I do not know. But to lump all parents into the same category as abusive is no better than assuming all black people are lazy rejects that are good for nothing.

By the way you fucking retard, beating a child doesn't teach them anything. You can beat them all they want, they will grow to fucking despise you. If you want to teach a kid anything you do it by a balance of discipline and filling emotional needs. If your child acts out you don't just beat the shit out of them. They are fully aware that they would not live a day in the world without you and they NEED you, they are only crying for your attention because they NEED you. Fulfill what they need emotionally, while also disciplining them when they are bad and they will not act out anymore. Believe me I know, the family I am living with had, what were, four annoying, horrible, bratty kids...but since I've been here, the kids have changed there tune.

If have way too many children take advantage of this so-called loving discipline. And next time you cal someone "fucking retard," make sure that you can speall and user proper grammar, and your own arguements might be a little stronger.

I didn't misspeall anything, actually. Glad to see to see that you resort to the defense of the defenseless- pointing out typos and minute grammatical errors as if it matters (on a website that is hardly deserving of proper grammar).

More people that should not, under any circumstances, be breeding.

Funny you should say that when there are a number of grammatical errors in your own comment.
